Benefits of Volunteering

We appreciate the help of all our volunteers! Sprouts would simply not exist without all the hard work they put in. In return, volunteers often develop useful, transferrable skills. All active volunteers are automatically members of Sprouts and in addition, receive 25% off all in-store purchases.

Sprouts is currently accepting applications for positions (April 2010 to March 2011 term) on our Executive Board

Sprouts depends upon a very dedicated group of 18 students forming the Executive Board. These individuals are responsible for overseeing everything from menu planning, volunteer coordination, and inventory management, to balancing the budgets, programming the cash register, and communicating with our customers, media, and the general public.

These are all volunteer positions, but all board members get to eat at Sprouts for free, receive a monthly store credit, and develop invaluable skills that are transferable to future employment opportunities (not to mention the chance to get to know a group of diverse, engaging students on your campus!).

Election procedure

  1. Applications open on Monday, March 8th and close on Monday, March 22nd. All board positions filled last March 2009 are open for applications. All current board members whose term will expire this year must re-apply. Email applications to Caitlin at . When an application is received a current board member will put the name of the applicant on the nomination sheet.
  2. On Thursday, March 25th the board will narrow down the nominees to a “top three” list of the applicants for all available positions.
  3. At the Bi-Annual General Meeting on April 1st the applicants will briefly introduce themselves and express their interest in taking on their desired position. This will be followed by a vote (silent ballot) to be tallied after the meeting. All Sprouts members present at the meeting will get one vote per position. Applicants may vote for themselves. Training for the positions begins after our General Meeting.
